How much do tattoos cost?

Our tattoo rate is $200 per hour, with a $150 minimum charge. The final price depends on the size, detail, placement and time required to complete your tattoo.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A deposit is required to secure your appointment. Deposits also allow us to begin any agreed design work. The deposit is included in the total cost of your tattoo.

How do I book an appointment?

You can enquire through our website, social media, email or phone. Please provide as much information as possible about your tattoo idea, including the approximate size, placement, style and any reference images.

Do you offer consultations?

Yes. Consultations are available for clients who would like to discuss their tattoo idea, placement, design or other details before booking.

Can you create a custom tattoo design?

Absolutely. Custom tattooing is a major part of what we do. We can work with your ideas, reference images and preferred style to create a design specifically for you.

Can I bring my own design?

Yes. You are welcome to provide your own artwork or reference material. We can discuss any adjustments required to make the design suitable for tattooing.

How many design revisions are included?

For design work included with your tattoo application, up to three redraws are included. Additional design work may be charged at the applicable design rate.

Can I get a copy of my tattoo design?

Yes. Where agreed as part of your design service, you will receive ownership rights to the completed tattoo design. Design ownership terms will be confirmed before design work begins.

What styles do you specialise in?

Obsidian Tattoo specialises in black and grey, blackwork, gothic, neo-traditional, geometric and realism, while also considering a wide range of custom tattoo concepts.

Can I bring a reference image?

Yes. Reference images are extremely helpful, particularly when communicating your preferred style, composition, subject matter or overall aesthetic.

Can I bring someone with me?

A small number of support people may be permitted depending on the appointment and studio space. Please check with us beforehand.

What should I do before my appointment?

Get a good night’s sleep, eat a proper meal beforehand and stay hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the area being tattooed.

Avoid arriving intoxicated or under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol.

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Yes, but please provide as much notice as possible. Deposits may be forfeited for cancellations or no-shows within 24 hours of your appointment.

What happens if I’m late?

Please contact us as soon as possible if you’re running late. Significant delays may affect the amount of time available for your tattoo and may result in the appointment needing to be rescheduled.

Do you tattoo cover-ups?

Yes. Cover-ups can be discussed during your consultation. The existing tattoo, its size, darkness and location will determine what is realistically possible.

Do you tattoo over scars?

Some scars can be tattooed over once they are fully healed and suitable for tattooing. This will be assessed during your consultation.

Do you tattoo hands, necks or other difficult areas?

These areas can be considered on a case-by-case basis. Your experience, the design and the location of the tattoo will all be taken into account.

Is my tattoo guaranteed to heal perfectly?

Everyone’s skin heals differently. Following the provided aftercare instructions is important for achieving the best possible result. We cannot guarantee how an individual’s skin will heal.

Do you provide aftercare instructions?

Yes. Aftercare instructions will be provided following your appointment. If you have any concerns during the healing process, contact us.

Can I get a touch-up?

If a tattoo requires a minor touch-up after healing, please contact us to discuss it. Touch-ups are assessed on an individual basis.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Appointments are preferred. Walk-in availability may occasionally be offered depending on the day’s schedule.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–5pm.
